Assistant Director for Mathematics

You understand what actors mean when they say, "I love acting, but what I really want to do is direct!" That's because you love teaching, but what you really want to do is run your own learning center. You're ready to do a bit of everything - teach math classes, hire and train teachers, work with parents to ensure their children's success, and whatever else comes your way.

Ideal Candidate Qualities

You're a people person and enjoy interacting with both adults and children. You're also a mathy person with some teaching experience. Maybe you're a math teacher in middle school or high school. Or a math professor who has decided that the teaching aspect of academia is far more attractive than research. You have a degree in a STEM-related field, some experience dealing with parents, and enough experience running something that you understand what being in charge means. You also understand that this is a position where working hours include evenings and weekends.

How to Apply

To apply, send a cover letter and a resume to jobs@aopsacademy.org and tell us why you would be a good fit for this position. Please also include a sample of your writing, such as an essay, article, or another piece of writing geared towards a non-technical audience. This is a full-time position.

"General coaching classes at many academic training centers stress repetition of the concept until a student grasps it thoroughly. At AoPS Academy, they go far beyond repetition. Their highly qualified instructors do a great job at teaching fundamental concepts to students at much greater depth, and challenge them to walk that extra mile by presenting them with more complex problems to solve. It provides a great learning experience in a friendly, fun, yet competitive and challenging environment. They provide their students with a combination of excellent instructional curriculum along with amazing online tools. AoPS Academy also encourages students to take part in various competitions. Overall they do an incredible job imparting a deep knowledge of both math and language arts to all of their students, and AoPS Academy sets them on a path towards their career goals. We are happy to be part of AoPS Academy family!"
